Supporting Collaborative Efforts.

Because we believe we are Better Together.

We know our community, and we know that there are many individuals and groups already doing important work to meet the most critical needs of Nacogdoches County Residents. We also know that it can feel like we’re spinning our wheels without getting very far when we are working in silos instead of collaborating. Collaboration is hard, and sometimes even messy, but we believe it is crucial to bring meaningful and lasting wellness solutions to our community.

That’s why Better Together accepted proposals from our community members for collaborative efforts to enhance mental health and wellness in Nacogdoches County. 19 proposals were submitted, and 10 were selected for funding. We can’t wait to share updates on these projects in action!

Why all this emphasis on collaboration?

At Better Together, not only do we instinctively know that we are better when we work together, we also know that the research tells us this is true.

Check out this brief literature review that explores some of the themes found in academic research about why collaboration matters, especially in rural communities.
